Launching REALM Academy
Just as the REALM has done many times since we launched in 2010, we are continuing to expand to the full K-12 spectrum with the addition of our teen secondary education program.
Starting in the Fall of 2024, we will be reimagining what would have been a kids last year at the REALM (previously, “age 12+” classes) into the first year of our new REALM Academy.
The inaugural class of students will be our pilot class that we plan to build around each year, expanding to complete what would be a “traditional high school” trajectory. As always, families can choose to participate in as much or as little as desired. We will continue to act as a resource of community, enrichment, and support through your educational journey.
Looking for a new space
We are searching for a larger space to accommodate the addition of our high school program and the general growth of the REALM, with many families on a wait-list currently. We expect to occupy our current space through 2024 as we find the right spot for our community to grow in for the next ten years.
We are surveying all kinds of property within a 2-mile radius of our current location. We recognize we need to stay close to where we are accessible to a community that has grown with us since inception.
We are looking for a much larger location (8-10,000 sq. ft). This new space would ideally include a maker space, kitchen, outdoor space - of course a lego room - as well as proximity to parks and community partners for students to continue learning out in the world. While our space gets larger, we are committed to maintaining small classroom sizes and a tight knit community!
Our Vision for the Future
REALM is not just a unique place for learning but the beginning of a movement. We are building community partnerships to provide more offerings, developing a foundation to include more diverse learners, and facilitating connections with education leaders around the country to collaborate with and learn from.
We hope to be on the forefront of individualized, microschool education focused on meaning and community. We hope to expand our reach in more REALM’s across the country and around the globe.
